The PRL50X is a Quartz Crystal based Ultra-Low Noise Extended Temperature Oscillator (XO) tailored for the growing market of Optical Pluggables, Active Electrical Cables (AECs), and Optical Communication. PRL50X is based on Pearl's patented SpurFree™ Technology, a novel Phase Locked Loop (PLL) architecture that enjoys all the merits of a Sigma-Delta Fractional-N PLL architecture yet behaves like an integer-N PLL. The result is outstanding spur-free phase noise behavior with extremely low phase noise.
With an outstanding noise performance of 68 fs RMS typical jitter, the PRL50X is the perfect candidate for AECs and Optical Pluggables. PRL50X comes in 2520 (2.5mm x 2.0mm) package. The device is designed with a focus on low power consumption, achieving a 68 mA typical current for LVDS output, a crucial specification for its target applications.
The PRL50X is designed specifically to meet the requirements of Optical Pluggables and AECs, prioritizing ultra-low noise, an extended temperature range, excellent frequency stability, low power consumption, and a small package size. It features an extended operating temperature range from -40°C to +105°C and offers a temperature compensation option (PRL503) that achieves an outstanding frequency stability of ±3 ppm across the entire temperature range.
The proprietary packaging solution integrates the crystal with the oscillator chip into an all-plastic package. The PRL50X is offered in a 2520 (2.5 mm x 2.0 mm) package size, making it suitable for compact designs. The device also supports a variety of output formats including LVDS, CML, LVPECL, and HCSL, with factory programmability for over 18 standard networking frequencies up to 1.25 GHz.
